Catfish Johnny's in Lake Panasoffkee, FL

On Tuesday we spent the afternoon at Catfish Johnny's. We had a fish luncheon and then there was a 3 1/2 hour jam session with several singers and musicians. Catfish Johnny was presented with an "Honorary Sheriff's Badge" by Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee. He was so verklempt after the presentation that his son had to take over for him on the microphone. When our activities director, Joe, invited us to go, he neglected to mention that it was country music. Each singer sang two songs...some we wished would have sang more and some we wished wouldn't have sang at all. We did have a good time, though. Another thing about Johnny...he used to have two 14' alligators at the restaurant. He has one left ('Ole Amos) who he has since moved to his farm. Joe & Ruth have seen a video of Johnny brushing Amos' teeth. Crazy!
