Happy 80th, "Papa"!

We went to an 80th birthday party yesterday for our dear friend, Ray McNally. We saw several people we haven't seen in a couple of years. It was so wonderful to see everyone and it was a great party. Good friends, good food and good times...it just get any better than that! Many thanks to Lin & Laura!!!

Shipshewana, Indiana

We're in Shipshewana, IN this week for our Everest Owners Rally. It's been a great week so far and we've got lots more planned. We took our trailer to the factory service center today and they are going to replace our axles and everything else from the frame down. Bob noticed that our axles seem to be off-kilter and he's pretty sure that's what caused the problems we had earlier this year with the shackles, etc. Since our trailer is nearly 6 years old, we are extremely impressed that they are doing this - at NO charge to us.

Here's a few pics from this week:

My Dad Is Home

My Dad was released from the hospital on Thursday. Bob went to pick him up at Beaumont and took him back to their apartment and gave him instructions on how to use his motorized chair. Bob went to the dining room with them for dinner and then watched my Dad after dinner. He is doing really well maneuvering the chair now. He did fall last night when he was getting in his wheelchair from his chair in the living room. Kathy & Spyros went over and got him up and ready for bed and into bed. His doctor had the cardiologist check him while he was in the hospital because it seems that his heart is misfiring at certain times and she thinks this is what is causing his falls. They are going to try to treat it with medication. Let's hope this works!

My Dad

I just got a call from my sister, Sue, telling me that my Dad was taken by ambulance back to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak today. He fell in the bathroom at their apartment this afternoon and split his head open, requiring stitches. He was just released from Woodward Hills Nursing Center on Friday after a few weeks of physical and occupational therapy. After all that, they determined that he will never get any stronger or improve at all. He fell at the apt. Friday, yesterday and then again today. I'm not sure what the next step will be. He obviously requires 24-hour care now and my Mom can't take care of him. :-(

UPDATE: Sue called back and said they were having trouble regulating my Dad's heart rate, so they admitted him for observation overnight. They used 4 staples to close the wound on his head and he also had a scrape on his hand and his elbow that they treated. :-( Not a good day, for sure!
