Swan Lake & Iris Gardens, Sumter, SC

Today we went to Sumter, SC to visit the Swan Lake - Iris Gardens Park. We originally checked into this location because we heard that they have a large display of Christmas lights. After checking their website we learned that it is also home to all 8 varieties of swans. We went there in the afternoon to see the swans and then returned after dark for the Christmas lights. We were a little disappointed in the lights. They were beautiful, but it was not as large a display as we have seen in other locations. We had fun with the swans, ducks and geese. They walk all around you and don't seem intimidated at all.

Bob's favorite -
a black-necked swan

A black swan - they have the
longest necks of all swans

I loved how the cypress trees grow
in the middle of the lakes

Of course, Santa's sleigh is
being pulled by swans
