California

We arrived at Mountain Lakes Resort in Lytle Creek, CA on Monday.  We had strong winds all the way from Ehrenberg, AZ.  It was in the 50's and then it started raining before we got to the RV park.  We were ready to go back to Mesa!  Thankfully, it has warmed up nicely and the winds have died down.  It was in the mid-90's today.  On Monday evening we went to Vince's Spaghetti House with lots of my California family - cousins and their children & grandchildren.  It was a great time!!!  On Thursday we met Gwen & Jim and their daughter & her family for dinner.   Last night we went to Palm Springs with Gwen & Jim and Paul and went to a wonderful deli for dinner and then to The Spa Casino.   Gwen won $2,200.00!!!  I won a little & Bob lost a little, so we broke even.  Tonight we went to dinner at Paul & Cheryl's with Gwen & Jim and Mike & Michele.  We sure had a lot of laughs!  Dinner was delicious and the company was great!  Bob spent 3 days this week helping Paul at Highland Cycles.  He can't sit still, so this keeps him happy and gives me some peace & quiet.

We're leaving in the morning for a 2-night stay in Ehrenberg, AZ.  Then it's on to Mountain Lakes Resort in Lytle Creek, CA.  We both have a bad case of hitch-itch and can't wait to get on the road.  We have sat here in Mesa longer than we have sat anywhere since we started full-time RVing.  On Monday we are meeting my cousins at Vince's Spaghetti House in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.  We can't wait to see all of them!!!  After 2 weeks there we will be heading to Yosemite National Park, San Francisco and Redwoods National Park.  I will definitely be posting and adding pictures as we travel.

The Ruckers in Arizona

Reid & Debbie arrived in our area yesterday.  We went to their park last night and the four of us went to dinner at the Sundance Restaurant right outside their park.  We then went back to their campsite to visit some more & play with Lady & Molly.  Today we met them for lunch at Garcia's Mexican Restaurant and then went to their place this evening to visit and (sadly) say our goodbyes.  We really enjoyed seeing them and look forward to the next time we meet up with them.

Roosevelt Lake & Dam, AZ

Today was our 34th Anniversary and we drove up to Roosevelt Lake & Dam. It was a beautiful day (in the 80's) and the scenery was fantastic. We took a new route there because the first time we tried to go there a few years ago, we left from Tortilla Flat and didn't get very far before Bob turned around. The road was dirt, narrow and very winding. So, today we took an alternate route that some friends told us about and although it was longer, it was nice paved roads. After we arrived at Roosevelt Lake, we went to the Visitor's Center and Bob spoke with a lady there and for some reason, he decided to take that 22 mile dirt road back to Tortilla Flat and then Mesa. I thought somebody kidnapped my hubby! We had to pull over several times to let vehicles coming the other way get through. It was shorter, but took much longer. And then Bob kept saying, "This is FUN"! WTH??? I swear, I don't know what has gotten into him.

Veteran's Charity Chili Supper at Mesa Regal RV Resort

Tonight was the annual Veteran's Club Charity Chili Supper and the guest speaker was Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County Sheriff.  He was such an entertaining and interesting speaker!  He is certainly a no-nonsense sheriff and while he may be controversial, he certainly has implemented some great programs.  Every county in this country should have a Sheriff Joe!

Sheriff Joe had to take an important call
just as Bob was about to meet him, so
we settled for this picture.

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Last night we went to the Fort McDowell Casino and Bob put $20.00 in a Wheel of Fortune $1.00 machine.  His first turn ($3.00) he hit a "SPIN" and won $1,000.00!!!  :-)  It was fantastic!!!  I lost $70.00, so WE came out way ahead.  :-)  It was my idea to go to the casino and I'm glad I suggested it.  Bob has been having good luck all week, so we're hoping he hits the Megamillions lottery next.
