Sunday with the McMichaels

Yesterday Paul called & asked us to meet them for dinner at the Outback Steakhouse.  He said his Uncle Charlie was going stir-crazy sitting in the house all week, so he wanted to go out.  When they arrived, we found out that our table for 5 was now a table for 10.  Their granddaughter, Jen, and grandson, Cody, were meeting them there and their son, Paul II, and his new wife, Wendy, and her daughter, Sarah, were also meeting us there.  We had a great time and then went over to Paul & Cheryl's for a while.  As usual, our sides ached when we left there from laughing so much.  Paul & Cheryl bought our dinner for Bob helping Paul at the shop on Saturday.  I love it when he earns us a free dinner!  Thanks again, Paul & Cheryl!

Roses again!

Bob went to work at my cousin Paul's shop on Saturday.  When he came home he was carrying a long, white box.  When I asked him what was in it, he replied, "donuts".  It was a dozen long-stemmed roses that are the biggest roses I have ever seen.  The buds are about 4 inches high.  I can't wait for them to open.  This is the 3rd time he's brought me roses this winter.  I must have been a good girl!  :-)

San Manuel Indian Casino - Highland, CA

On Friday, Bob was going stir crazy and wanted to find someplace to go.  He suggested that I go on-line and look for a local casino.  I found the San Manuel Casino in Highland, so we headed over there in the afternoon.  We were there about 1 1/2 hours and came out $400.00 richer.  :-)  I was the big winner for a change.  When we left there we went to my cousin Paul's and visited for a while.

Why Did We Leave Mesa???

When we  left for the wedding on Saturday, there was a rock slide off one of the mountains on the road leading in/out of our park.  It had been raining all Friday night and all day Saturday.  When we came home from the wedding on Saturday night it was just starting to snow at our park.  (We are at 3,200 ft. elevation).  When we woke up Sunday morning, this is what we found:

Bob cleaning the snow off of our satellite dish
with a folded up cereal box...
the same high-tech tool he used to
clean the snow off of our steps.
It is rather pretty, but not at all what we expected in
Southern California in mid-March.

Paul II & Wendy's Wedding ~ Part II

I'm having a hard time uploading these pics
with the connection I have here, so I'm splitting them up.
If you aren't familiar with my California cousins, these
pictures will bore you.  A few more to follow on the next post.

Unfortunately, a short while after this picture was taken, Charlie
fell while coming off the bridge that went over the in-ground pool.
He fractured his hip and was admitted to the hospital last night.
He was having surgery today.  He's visiting from Florida & it looks
like most of his visit will now be spent in rehab.

Paul II & Wendy's Wedding

Yesterday we attended my cousin Paul's son's wedding.  It was an outdoor wedding at the bride's parents home and it was cold and raining all day.  :-(  They made the best of it and had a huge tent with sides on it and heaters.  We had a great time and it was so much fun to see many of the cousins and their families.  With the exception of the bad weather, it was a great way to spend our 33rd anniversary.  More pictures coming soon...

California!

We arrived in Lytle Creek, California yesterday afternoon.  It's cooler here that we anticipated, but still beautiful.  We have an outdoor family wedding to attend on Saturday and they are predicting heavy rains and snow above 1,500 ft. elevation (the wedding will be at 2,000 ft. and our campground is at 3,200 ft.).  YIKES!!!  We'll be in CA for 5 weeks and then head to Pahrump, NV to visit with Reid & Debbie at their new home there.

Holy schnikees!  We topped off in AZ just before entering CA
and are hoping that 88 gallons of diesel lasts us until we leave here.

Hummingbird Nest

Our friends, Reid & Debbie, are in town for the weekend and are staying at the KOA in Apache Junction.  When we were there yesterday, we saw a hummingbird nesting in a tree on their campsite.  Today when we were there, the eggs had hatched and she was feeding the babies.  I only wish that I had my larger lens with me and that I could have seen into the nest better.  It was a magical sight!
